Fruitas y Verduras

Look at our loot! We went back to the fruit and vegetable market today to get some more fresh foods. This beautiful pile of food shown here cost us $2300 CLP...less than $4.00 US!!! Here's what we got:
  1. An onion
  2. A green pepper
  3. 6 gala apples
  4. 1kg of bananas
  5. 1.2 kg of grapes
  6. 3 kg of potatoes!
The grapes are amazing. They are enormous, plump, and delicious! It's much much less expensive to eat food like this here than food in cans or food that is frozen. The market is quite large and building was actually designed by Eiffel...yes the same Eiffel that designed the Eiffel Tower. We just learned also that he designed the train station in Santiago that we visited on our first day in Chile.

The market also has plenty of cats and dogs. Most of the dogs stay outside, but there are many cats inside the market. We're not sure how many are strays, but the cats tend to make themselves comfortable sleeping on fruits and vegetables, such as this cat that found avocados to be a comfortable bed.

Wow, how fortunate to have fresh fruit to eat!

I think Eiffel also designed the Statue of Liberty!

The cats are funny!
